Assuming cars imported into Germany are the same as UK cars, the actual speed would.only have been about 210 km/h or about 130 mph. In the UK all car manufacturers are allowed up to 10% error, always lower, than actual speed. Still good for a 1.4.

honestly, I used to be a bit offensive against those downsized engines, but currently I have one of it and I am impresed about its power. Also it is not true that it will die after 100k km, I have several friends with 1.0 and 1.2 Octavia, Fabia or Rapid, and most of them have 200k km without any big troubles. Also interior looks very nice, comfort and representative, compare to another brands like Hyundai, Honda, Citroen or Renault.
Yup. Was apprehensive too. I went from 240bhp/490nm twin turbo diesel to 1.4 TSI 123bhp/200nm Octavia estate. Even fully loaded I can't believe how nice it drives and how well it pulls. Sure, it won't do 250km/h but I don't need it to either!
